I try to come here every time I'm in Vero. Great food, friendly staff. Cool atmosphere. Try the queso as an app!

I absolutely love this place! The mexican food is fantastic, and fresh. It's amazing all the combinations they have. If you're with someone who isn't into Mexican food, they also serve T-bone & hamburgers! But I'll just keep getting that great mexican food! The ONLY complaint, which others have also agreed with me is----they don't salt the chips!! So, being a saltaholic, I pour that salt on, but the chips are so crunchy, the salt falls off! But SO good ! Will def.be going back!

Wife and I both became terribly ill after having lunch here. Apparently, they receive a ton of health violations too: restaurants.wtsp.com/ay-…

Excellent service, our waiter always careful and speak perfect Spanish and English. I ask for chile verde and chile colorado and all was delicious, affordable and very typical decoration.

I love their seafood chimichanga and they are really courteous too.

I'm probably being generous with this rating, and it alarms me that this Mexican food might qualify as A-OK. I've been in Florida a bit too long. The margaritas are fine -- heavy on the syrups and flavorings and light on quality tequila, but still refreshing on a hot day. The salsa and guac are acceptable and nothing amazing. I enjoyed the carne asada burrito, which was smothered in sauce and cheese. The carne asada was OK as were the accompaniments. I am continually astonished that good Mexican food is so hard to find in South Florida. I entered excited, but I left with my quest unfulfilled. We continue our search...

My new find in Vero Beach. Good Mexican food at reasonable prices. Go hungry to this place because they give you a ton of food. The servings are HUGE and the service was excellent. I had one of the combo platters(enchilada, tacos and tamales) and my girlfriend had the chimichanga. Both were great. So....good, cheap and plentiful Mexican food when in Vero? Try here.

Spinach enchiladas were delicious!! Good portions, a generous amount of spinach, and tasty rice & retried beans on the side. My boyfriend liked his shrimp enchiladas as well. The chips and salsa weren't anything special though, so save those extra calories for your meal. The drinks looked affordable, but I didn't get a chance to try them. I would definitely come back!

Awesome Mexican food. Decorated cool too. The best home made tortilla chips. They also make great margaritas. We go there every time we are in Vero.

Its not the best mexican food EVER but I LOVE it, but i'm never disappointed. This is one of my favorite spots. The chips and salsa is really good. Guacamole and Queso are a must. I like the appetizers even more than the meals. Platinum Margaritas are tasty! You can even get sides of items like a side taco or enchilada if you want to skip the rice and beans. YUM! The staff is very nice.

Service is good and staff are friendly. The food portions are big for the price. My husband and I enjoy eating here and it's one of our favorite places to dine at.

Good lunch specials. Get the shredded beef chimichanga. Wasn't a fan of their salsa, tasted more like canned tomato sauce than what salsa should actually be.

Ay Jalisco is pretty good. It's not amazing, and it won't "wow" anyone, but it's good for what it is. The food is tasty. The service is quick. The atmosphere is nice. The portions are plentiful. There is a good selection of margaritas. The prices are fair. Chips and yummy salsa come with every meal. Really, it's a good Mexican restaurant. But in the end, Ay Jalisco is just good, not great. It's not super authentic, it will not remind you of Mexico, and it will not provide you with an unforgettable experience. From someone who has had incredible Mexican cuisine in the past, Ay Jalisco falls short. But if you're looking for good Mexican food in Vero Beach, Ay Jalisco does a fine job. A solid four stars.

Fun place and very good food. served by Mexican people makes it more authentic. Margaret on 'light' side, but tasty. I love the Mango Chicken Fajitas Quesadilla!

If you've been to one Mexican restaurant, you've been to them all, it seems. Nothing sets this apart from any other Mexican restaurant I've been to, in this area or any other. We ordered tacos, taco salad and quesadillas and they were decent. Prices were a little higher than average. Service was ok- we waited for an extraordinary amount of time to get water refills, but the food came decently fast. All in all--- whatever. It's ok.

A Vero favorite. Great value, good portion size. I gravitate to the chicken chimichanga, which is perfectly fried (just a light crisp that is easy to move a knife and fork through), well presented (guacamole on the side, not on top). Nice sides (the ubiquitous beans and rice, and great chips and salsa). Good location (publix next door to do some shopping on the way home). If you are in Vero vacationing for a week, this should be a stop in your first few days, since you'll likely come again.

I just don't get it when locals rave about a place...and it ultimately upsets your stomach. The tortillas aren't made in house, the salsa tasted it was from a can (yes, from NY city), the Margaritta was watered down, the guacamole poorly made with large pieces of avocado...I was really looking forward to some good Mexican Food.

Always great food, usually great service. Any time that I am in Vero I make it a point to stop by Ay Jalisco. They set the standard to which I judge other mexican fare by.

I have eaten here many times for lunch and dinner. The atmosphere is relaxed/casual. The food is always great! The service is always good. If you like cilantro and spice, you will love their salsa. I could drink the stuff! If they sold it in jars, I would buy it. My only complaint, if I HAD to give a negative, would be the seating next to the interior windows (window wall between the two sides of restaurant). For me, in most cases, I like more privacy when eating out than this area offers. I have not had to yet, but I am sure they would have no issue with seating me elsewhere if I asked. If you want tasty Mexican food, at a great price, with good portion size, and variety, this is your place!

I have had margaritas everywhere. The Bahamas. The Keys. Miami. Ft. Lauderdale. At my Grandma's house. Seriously fell over when I had Ay Jalisco's house margarita. Only $3.50, not the biggest margarita ever, but probably THE BEST margarita ever. Not sure if it had to do with the bartender or the sour mix they used, but it was the perfect proportion of lime, sour, tequila and salt that I have ever had anywhere. I got the carne asada burrito. AMAZING. My Grandpa Harlan got a pork dish that was also AMAZING. Didn't try Grandma Shirley's flautas but they sure looked good! Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgable. Gramps can be a curmudgeon sometimes but she handled him with grace and kindness. We were all in agreement that Ay Jalisco has the best margaritas. As the both of my grandparents have over 140 years combined experience in this matter, I would trust their recommendation. Have to minus 1 star because the guacamole was just....weird. Why oh why??? But otherwise a perfect meal.

The other reviews are just crazy. The place is no where near 4 or 5 stars. Food was fine - but typical tex-mex. it reminded me of ChiChi's. I ordered fajitas - they were ok, but nothing extraordinary. Seems like a local hangout for families looking for a hearty but cheap meal. Decorations are tired and the place is just pedestrian. Only have beer and wine. The margarita is made without tequila. Just not what the other reviews say it is

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
